Frequently Asked Questions
Does the hourly rate include the engineer?
Yes. Specific engineers may have different rates, but an engineer is included in the quoted hourly rate.
Does the studio have a drum kit?
Yes, however you should reserve the drum kit at the time the session is booked. Most drummers bring their own cymbals, but the studio does have some.
Some studios are cheaper than Voracity. Why should I record there?
The short answer is for the expertise and the world class collection of gear. Our engineers make records daily, with some having decades of experience. Our mic collection is extensive and sure to cover whatever your needs may be. Of course, any mic collection is only as good as the engineers using them. We have tons of experience recording live instruments, as well as an impressive collection of software, if you prefer virtual instruments.
Can you help with hiring session musicians?
Yes. We have a roster of “A List” musicians at our disposal. This cost is not covered in the hourly studio rate and will have to be arranged at the time the session is booked. The musician fee should be paid at the beginning of the session.
Does a producer come with the session?
No. However, one can be provided or recommended. This is a separate fee.
Can I bring my own engineer?
Yes, but they will need to demonstrate their ability to operate the studio. Voracity would provide an assistant for the session.
Do you work nights and weekends?
Yes. However, late-night sessions are subject to the availability of the engineers.
What is the shortest session I can book?
Voracity books sessions on a two-hour minimum, unless you’re using your own engineer.
What is a “Lockout”?
A "Lockout” is basically a 12-hour session. The session is locked at the end of the day, so you can start where you left off the next day. There are cost savings when you book the studio this way.
Can I smoke in the studio?
No.
